An explosion at Port Elgin harbour startled neighbours around 2:40 this morning.
Saugeen Shores Police say they were dispatched along with Fire and Bruce County EMS and found seven boats engulfed in flames.
The boats, both power and sail, had been lined up side by side for winter storage.
The explosion and fire also damaged a nearby washroom building. There were no injuries.
Firefighters from Port Elgin and Southampton stations were able to battle the blazes and prevent them from spreading to nearby boats. Crews were on scene until 7:00 a.m. dousing flare-ups.
The cause is not known and the Ontario Fire Marshall's office is investigating.
Seven boats were destroyed. Police and fire officials are trying to contact all the owners.
