Hanover Group Hoping To Sponsor Refugee Family

There's a group in the Hanover-area joining the effort to help refugees.

The Hanover and Area Refugee Committee is made of of faith groups and individuals.  They hope to sponsor a Syrian family to come to Canada and settle in the Hanover area.

Group member Christine Forand says she and others feel they can't just sit back and do nothing.

"It's just a way of giving back for the wealth and privilege I've been born into.  It's part of being human and reaching out to people in need," says Forand.

The Hanover area group has already raised about half of the $22,500 they need to sponsor a family.

Anyone wanting to help can do so through the Mennonite Central Committee web site at: donate.mcccanada.ca/registry/hanover-and-area-refugee-sponsorship
