Perth County OPP laid dozens of charges during Operation Impact over the weekend.
61 motorists were charged for speeding, 4 drivers face seatbelt violations, two were nabbed for distracted distracted driving, and 24 drivers were charged for hazardous moving violations.
The two week fall seatbelt campaign resulted in 60 seatbelt violations.
The weekend also included 14 collisions, including a fatal accident near Topping, four deer collisions, and a car porcupine crash.
Staff Sergeant Joel Skelding says Perth County motorists need to take their driving more seriously, because road safety affects everyone.
“Looking at the traffic enforcement numbers in Perth County for the past two weeks I am disappointed that our officers are still seeing vehicle occupants not wearing their seatbelts. After 39 years of seatbelt laws in Ontario I had hoped that this number would be lower. The collision numbers during the Thanksgiving weekend and the number of charges laid during “Operation Impact” are also too high. The motoring public has to take their driving seriously as road safety affects all of us.” Staff Sergeant Joel Skelding Perth County OPP
