Bluewater council has approved the sale of a surplus fire tanker from Hensall to a group that is collecting surplus fire equipment to ship to Argentina.
Mayor Tyler Hessel explains Bluewater has been involved in similar projects in the past and points out while the tanker no longer meets standards in Ontario it would be a huge asset to a fire department in Argentina.
Hessel says rather than auction the truck off, they'll sell it to the group collecting equipment for $2,000 and everyone wins.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
