Goderich Mayor Won't Rip Down Lakeshore Inukshuks

The mayor of Goderich says he has no intention of tearing down the inukshuks along the shoreline at the Cove beach.

But Kevin Morrison adds Mother Nature may have the last word.

The town has received a letter regarding a potential lawsuit against the town for an alleged injury sustained by a woman by an inukshuk. The letter says one of the inukshuks collapsed when she leaned against it has been referred to the town's solicitor and insurance provider.

A motion by one councillor to have the inukshuks torn until the matter is resolved was defeated and Morrison maintains there's no reason to tear them down.

But Morrison also points out the fall storms on the Great Lakes might very well mean the end of the inukshuks for this year and they'll deal with the matter next spring.
