The idea of a full amalgamation between the three hospitals in Mount Forest, Palmerston and Fergus, is off the table. However, talks are continuing to try to agree on ways to integrate their governance.

With amalgamation off the table, it means that the North Wellington Health Care hospitals will remain independent from Fergus, with their own board of directors.
Many in the community feared that a full amalgamation was in the works.
