It was standing room only at the Lumley Bayshore for one of the most important all candidate debates for the Bruce Grey Owen Sound riding.
The four candidates discussed a wide range of topics, everything from trade agreements to senate reform to the role of the Canadian Armed Forces.
The Green Party's Chris Albinati slammed cuts by the Harper government. He says he can make a difference if elected.
"There's so much you can do as a single MP in the House and those kinds of potentials need to be maximized, not just because it's the right thing to do but because it's the only thing we can do to fight for the people of Bruce Grey Owen Sound," says Albinati.
Liberal Kimberley Love says a big problem with the Conservatives is Stephen Harper's control in the Commons over his party members.
"We've been hampered in democracy by hyper-partisanship and Justin Trudeau has made a commitment to me that most of my votes in the House of Commons will be free votes in which I'm allowed to represent my constituents," says Love.
David McLaren for the NDP says his party would ensure all people get a living wage. He says that will help individuals and their families as well as the economy.
"We have to start looking at people near the bottom rather than serving people at the top. If we can't help people who have the least we have no business helping people who have the most," says McLaren.
Incumbent Conservative Larry Miller says the real work of an MP is helping people with their day to day problems and if re-elected he'll continue to do that.
"The thing that I take pride in is I'm a constituency MP. People come to my office, they're not coming to say hi, they're coming because they have a problem and we're in the service industry that's what we gotta do is try and help them," promises Miller.
The debate was hosted by the Owen Sound and Meaford Chambers of Commerce.
