Southern Bruce County Area Natural Gas Public Meetings Planned

Public Information Sessions are scheduled to gather input on a plan to have EPCOR bring natural gas pipelines to Kincardine, Arran-Elderslie, and Huron Kinloss.

Three public meetings are planned in each municipality, between October 15 and October 17.

EPCOR's proposal includes 145 km of natural gas pipelines,

The plan calls for a 75 km natural gas transmission segment from the Wingham Meter Station to Bruce Industrial Park, through Ripley and Kincardine.

There would also be a 35 km transmission segment from the Dornoch Metre Station through Chesley to Paisley.

A preliminary route has been selected, but could change during the consultation and construction process.

EPCOR has hired Stantec Consulting to do an environmental study of the construction and operation of the pipelines.

The Ontario Energy Boards Review and approval is required before the project can proceed.

Consultation will engage landowners, Aboriginal communties, and government agencies,

Representatives from EPCOR, the municipalities, and Stantec will be on hand to talk about the routing, design, and scheduling.

A meeting is set for the Chesley Community Centre on October 15 starting at 6:30pm. The next meeting takes place at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre October 16 at 5pm. And the final meeting begins at 1pm at the Kincardine Municipal Administration Centre.
