Wellington County is receiving $18,000 from the Ontario government to help local businesses address a skills shortage.
The money will be used by the County's Global Talent Initiative to hire a part-time coordinator. That person will work with small and medium businesses to identify, attract and hire global talent.
"The Regional Economic Development Programme has enabled the county to speak with 47 employers thus far," says Warden George Bridge. "It ensures the County continues to support their business growth and attract new residents to the County of Wellington."
In addition to helping the companies hire additional skilled workers, the coordinator will work with businesses to develop and implement hiring strategies that will be of benefit in the future.
"Wellington County has a lot to offer prospective employees," says Chris White, chair of the County’s Economic Development Committee. "This program and the funds we are receiving will help us reach out to skilled individuals that will help us strengthen our economy."
