Support For Wingham Theatre Plan

The Wingham Town Hall Theatre Committee is trying to ride some fundraising momentum to bring the theatre up to standards.

The goal is to raise $120,000 for upgrades that include sprinklers, new fire doors and emergency lights and an HVAC system. The plan also inlcudes a movie projector and screen.

The group accepted a $10,000 cheque from TD today to help with the goal. There has also been a $10,000 donation from Royal Homes and $4,000 from Homecoming.

The theatre, built in the late 1800's, has sat empty for the last four years, closed to public occupancy due to a lack of safety infrastructure.

The goal is to have the Wingham Town Hall Theatre open by April 29 of next year and any renovations cannot start until all of the money is raised.
