Two Bodies Found At Helicopter Crash Site

Two bodies have been recovered from the crash site of a Wingham-based helicopter that was reported missing earlier this week.

The helicopter, a Robinson R-44 owned by APEX Helicopters Inc., was found Friday around 5pm in a heavily wooded area in northeastern Ontario, near Timmins.

Earlier in the day, police had released the names of the two men who were in the helicopter at the time it went missing; Jeremie Belanger, 24, of Kapuskasing, and Ken Mielke, 41, of Kitchener.

The identities of the two bodies that were found will not be confirmed until after a post mortem.

The helicopter was due to arrive at a timber camp on Tuesday, less than 20 km away from the original take off point.

The Transportation Safety Board Canada is investigating.
