Three area MPPs have been named to Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown's shadow cabinet.
Brown was selected as party leader in May and last week was elected to a seat in the Legislature in a byelection.
Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece is with be the party's critic for Community and Social Serives as well as be the critic responsible for Senior's Issues.
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker is the party's Associate Health Critic for Long-Term Care.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson will be the P.C. critic for Environment and Climate Change.
Thompson has held the environment portfolio since last year's provincial election and says it's a role she's looking forward to continuing, adding it's the result of discussions with party leader Patrick Brown over the past several months.
The Liberal government's proposed cap-and-trade system for carbon will be Thompson's main priority as she heads back to Queen's Park, accusing the government of capitalizing on the emotion tied to the environment to add to its revenues.
"We all care about the environment, we all care about emissions and we can find a way to have industry, Ontarians and government work together to ensure that we are protecting our environment and reducing emissions at the same time, without further digging into the taxpayers pocket," says Thompson.
