Jail Time For Man Charged In Hanover Police Standoff

A man charged in connection with a police standoff in Hanover has pleaded guilty to a handful of charges.

Richard Williams was sentenced to a year in jail, on top of the 154 days he has already spent in custody.

He will also be on probation for two years, and has to pay numerous fines as well.

Williams locked himself in his home on April 14 of this year, and warned police he had explosives and firearms. He lit his residence on fire before being arrested.

Police had to close 10th St. between 7th and 9th avenues for several hours.

Williams was charged with arson, public mischief, failure to comply with probation, mischief to property, uttering threats and assault causing bodily harm.

Some charges relate to the standoff while others were in connection to crimes committed in 2013, and in early 2015.
