Bluewater council is looking at creating a policy that will help them deal with debt when they're faced with large infrastructure projects.
Mayor Tyler Hessel explains council is constantly being challenged with large projects like water mains or sewer projects or heritage halls and facilities.
He points out they're only allowed by borrow up to 25 per cent of their total taxation and in Bluewater's case they're finding they're running out of money quickly.
Hessel says council passed a motion at a special council meeting yesterday to work with neighbouring councils and the county as well as exploring the benefits of hiring a consultant and get a report back from staff on the next step.
Hessel adds one of the projects they're looking at is increasing sewage capacity in the Bayfield area. That's currently holding up development in and around Bayfield and if that development can occur that would increase taxation and lift the ceiling on how much the municipality could borrow for other projects.
