Minto Mayor Offers Alternative To Photo-Ops

Minto Mayor George Bridge is unhappy that federal and provincial politicians want photo-ops every time they hand out a sizeable grant.

The upper-level politicians also want big highway signs announcing their generosity.

"We can't do proper planning without sustainable funding," Bridge tells CKNX News. "Rather than having the photo-ops that everyone is worried about, just let the taxpayers money flow the way it should be to those infrastructure projects."

Bridge says it would be better if the politicians forgot the photo-op and simply gave local municipalities a lump sum, which they would be allowed to spend it as they saw fit.

This comes just over a month after Perth-Wellington MP Gary Schellenberger and MPP Randy Pettapiece announced $2-million in funding for two infrastructure projects in Minto.
