Harriston's Downtown Ready For Business

Completion of the first phase of the rebuilding of Harriston’s main street will be celebrated this weekend with a street dance.

Virtually all work will be complete by the weekend including the new decorative street lighting which will be turned on for the first time.

Paul Ziegler of Triton Engineering told council that the work included dropping water lines six feet down, which should eliminate freezing problems in the winter.

The second phase involves two blocks of Elora St., north of the traffic lights in Harriston.

Minto council was told that Phase 2 cannot start until mid September, and that means working into November when weather could impact on the job.

Council will consider a suggestion from Triton Engineering that work on Phase 2 be delayed until next spring with a completion at the end of June.
