Four Break-ins In Mount Forest In A Week, Including A Church

A series of break-ins in Mount Forest in the last week has prompted the OPP to issue security reminders to property and business owners.

Three businesses and a church in Mount Forest have been hit in recent days. In all four cases, someone forced entry to the buildings and stole small amounts of cash.

Police say securing your property means making sure exterior lights are working; leaving an interior light on; locking all windows; making sure all doors are properly closed and locked; leave cash drawers open to show no money has been left; make regular bank deposits to minimize cash on hand; and install an alarm system and have it checked often.

In the event of a break-and-enter, call police immediately and don't disturb the crime scene. Be prepared to provide police with a clear description and value of missing items, including serial numbers if possible.
