It wasn't a tornado, but that doesn't mean the early Sunday evening rain and strong winds that moved through Lucknow and area didn't cause significant damage.
Environment Canada storm investigators spent some time in Lucknow Thursday and Severe Weather Meteorologist Desjanielle Matthews says they found damage to a barn and about 100 mature trees to be consistant with what's called a 'downburst.'
Unlike a tornado where the winds are rotating, a 'downburst' produces 'straight-line' winds that can also cause significant damage
Matthews notes that the 'downburst' that blew through Lucknow early Sunday evening produced winds between 135 and 175 km/h.
