More Midwestern Ontario Fire Bans Issued

The number of midwestern Ontario municipalities announcing fire bans for the long weekend is growing.

Northern Bruce Peninsula and South Bruce Peninsula are the latest areas under a fire ban.

The recent dry conditions have created an extreme fire risk.

The high temperatures, lack of rain, and forecast have prompted officials in a number of communities to ban all open air fires including campfires, brush burning, contractor, agricultural and fire permits.

Hanover, South Bruce and Brockton and Southgate have also issued fire bans.

Brockton and South Bruce Peninsula are allowing recreational fires within a non-combustible burning device with a burn area of no larger than 2 ft by 2 ft by 2 ft.

Brockton will only allow those campfires from 7pm until 11pm.
