New App for Avon Maitland International Students

The Avon Maitland District School Board has created a new app to help international students adapt to life in Huron County.

International Education Administrator Steve Howe explains the board currently has 166 international students registered for the coming school year, with more expected before September.

So the board worked with one of their partners to develop and app that would make their transition a little easier.

Howe points out the app is available at no cost to the students now so they'll know what to expect as soon as they step off the plane. That app includes information about their courses, the staff they'll be working with, how their health care works but it also includes information about typical Canadian food that they should try and different attractions and activities they should see while they're here.

The App is available in the App Store for IOS and the Google Play Store for Android.

Howe points out this is just the first edition and he expects it will be adjusted regularly as he gets more feedback from students.
