The general manager of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority presented the authority's five-year budget to the board at Thursday's meeting.
Brian Horner says a five-year budget is similar to a five-day weather forecast, so the last two or three years are approximations.
"You never know what kind of grants are going to be out there," Horner tells CKNX News. "We're pretty confident that this current year, 2016, that things will be status quo. We won't have to do any major cutbacks when it comes to our services."
Horner explains in formulating the five-year budget they ask staff to prepare a list of projects they'd like to get done so in that respect it's something of a wish list.
But he says the combined project and general levy for each of the next five years is just over two percent.
Horner points out for the last few years the board has held the budget at around two per cent, so he's pleased with the five-year budget.
