A Huron County man is in custody following a police search that took place throughout the day northeast of Wingham.
Shortly after 10am, Huron County OPP officers responded to a residence on B-Line Rd. after receiving a call for assistance.
The property owner reported a male had entered his residence and when confronted the male suspect took off on foot.
OPP officers along with the assistance of West Region OPP Emergency Response Team and an OPP Canine Unit arrived on scene and searched the area.
At 1:44pm, police received a second call for assistance from a homeowner nearby on Howick-Turnberry Rd.
The man was spotted inside of the caller's residence and when the homeowner yelled at him, he fled on foot.
Police converged on the scene and began a search of the area.
At approximately 2:45pm OPP officers located the man hiding in a woodlot on Howick-Turnberry Rd. near Gilmour Line.
The suspect is currently in police custody.
Police have not yet released the suspect's identity or what charges he faces.
