Wellington North Farmer Fined For Illegal Brush Fire

Wellington North is giving a local farmer a financial break for an illegal brush fire.

Aaron Weber maintains he did everything by the book and got a Burn Permit and the approval from the fire chief.

But Fire Chief David Guilbault (gil-BO) says he was not properly informed when the fire would be, and when fire trucks arrived at the scene they found rubber tires, old farm equipment and garbage in the 100-foot long burn pile of brush and stumps.

Weber was billed $10,660 for the work of three fire departments involved in the incident; Mount Forest, Arthur and Harriston.

Wellington North council agreed Monday to reduce the bill to $6,396.
