Eighty six young people between the ages of six and 12 attended Monday's Progressive Agriculture Safety Day at the Varna Complex in Bluewater.
Co-ordinator Brenda Chuter explains they focus on young people because they become the role model for their parents.
Chuter points older people are not as likely to change the way they do things because they've doing them that way for years. She also notes equipment goes faster today than it used to.
"We just have to try and teach the kids how to play safe and what areas they can't be playing in. If we can save one life, we've done our role here," Chuter tells CKNX News. "But they need to know that around farm equipment is not the place to play."
Chuter says the program is working because she now hears children pointing out safety hazards to their parents.
