Residents Want Bayfield Makeover To Include Buried Hydro Lines

About 50 Bayfield residents showed up at the local community centre last night to get a look at plans for the makeover of the main street.

Bluewater Mayor Tyler Hessel says the total cost will exceed $1-million and that was one of the discussion points.

Because of the cost, council is looking at doing the project in phases, with the first phase being the solution to the storm water that floods many of the store fronts after every heavy rain fall.

There was also considerable discussion around the question of burying the Hydro lines. Council has voted against it because of the estimated cost of $400,000, give or take 50 per cent, quoted by Ontario Hydro.

Many of the people at last night's meeting felt that regardless of the cost, the lines should be buried.

Hessel says the information from the meeting will go back to the sub-committee in charge of the project and then presented to council. That could lead to another public meeting in Bayfield.
