Milverton Murder Suspect's Trial Date Expected This Week

The lawyer for Michael Schweitzer says the 2012 Milverton murder suspect’s trial has been tentatively set.

Schweitzer is facing first degree murder and attempted murder in the death of 17-year-old Nicole Wagler and the critical injury of 22-year-old Tyler Baker in December of 2012.

Schweitzer’s lawyer, Phil Millar, says the Crown has set aside four weeks for the trial to take place in January of 2016.

“Obviously the family is anxious to have this resolved, I think everybody in the community wants to have it resolved, it’s a horrific crime that took place,” Millar told CKNX News.

The trial was initially slated to begin this past March, but was pushed back after Schweitzer had hired another lawyer.

The defense and crown will select the trial date at assignment court in Stratford on Friday.
