Tuckersmith to Expand Broadband in Bayfield

Tuckersmith Communications Co-operative has started the groundwork to have broadband service available to the area around Bayfield.

General Manager Rob Van Aaken points out it's difficult to know what the economy will be like three or four years from now, but in the immediate future he hopes to have broadband available to the east side of Bayfield this fall and the west side of Bayfield, south of the bridge next year.

Van Aaken adds he hopes to do north of the bridge the following year and start working on some of the lakefront subdivisions as well as some work around Seaforth and Egmondville.

Van Aaken also points out that once broadband is installed the average customer will notice their internet is faster and their television picture won't pixelize any more.

Van Aaken explains with people using the internet for just about everything, speed and capacity is increasing by 50-per cent every year so that today's 20 meg internet or 40 meg internet will look like dial-up compared to 100 meg internet that will be available in three to four years.
