Southern Bruce Natural Gas Plan Attracts Potential Partners

Public information meetings are going to be held in the near future to update residents in three municipalities about the South Bruce Gas Initiative.

Kincardine, Arran-Elderslie and Huron-Kinloss are the municipalities involved.

This week, officials received the results of a confidential Request for Information process designed to solicit interest and identify potential partners to implement the proposed new natural gas distribution utility.

Kincardine Mayor Anne Eadie says the approach produced multiple, high quality responses from a range of potential partners.

Arran-Elderslie mayor, Paul Eagleson, says the next step is to schedule separate, face to face meetings with the respondents to clarify and confirm details of the options.

A preferred partner is expected to be picked by the end of the summer.

At that time, all three municipalities will plan information meetings so the public will have a chance to understand the approach.
