Owen Sound's historical courthouse building will become a long term care home.
Southbridge Care Homes has announced it's buying the building from the city.
Company president Keith McIntosh says they'll completely renovate the building but maintain the existing structure.
He says that's an important consideration.
"In Owen Sound we have an opportunity to partner with not only city hall but with the council and the community to retain a building that has historical importance to the community," said McIntosh.
Southbridge already runs two such facilities in Owen Sound. McIntosh says they'll close the other two and combine them at the new location creating about 30 new jobs.
Owen Sound mayor Ian Boddy says that's good for the city.
"Job growth is huge in this area and it's a fairly well paying job, opens jobs for those under 30 that all want to move home so that was pretty important to us," said Boddy.
McIntosh expects they'll invest about ten million dollars converting the Owen Sound's courthouse building to a long term care home with work to start sometime next year.
