Bayfield Seniors Discuss Availability Of Services

Over 60 seniors attended a meeting hosted by the Home4Good organization at the Lion's Community Hall in Bayfield Saturday morning.

Acting Chair Leslie Bella explains the group was formed to help seniors in the Bayfield area remain in the village rather than move to an urban centre to access the services they need.

"They came here today to look for answers to the kinds of issues they know they are going to face as they get older," says Bella. "Is there the right kind of housing in the village and how they are going to manage with transportation if they get to the point where they no longer drive a car. Those are the two big ones [issues]."

Bella says what also because obvious was there are services that address some of the needs expressed at the meeting, but people don't know about them or where to get them so there has to be a better way of communicating that information.

At the end of the meeting, several people signed up to volunteer to sit on various committees going forward.

A summary of Saturday's meeting and more information about the group and future meetings can be found on the home4good Facebook page.
