Not Much For Healthcare In Latest Provincial Budget Says HPHA CEO

The CEO for the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance says there was not much in the provincial budget for healthcare.

Andrew Williams says any new funding is being directed towards the home and community sector to provide care closer to home. He believes that's a positive, but the mid to long-term impact on hospitals is that they'll see fewer patients.

And the challenge for hospitals is dealing with a zero revenue increase as costs continue to rise so they constantly have to re-asses how they deliver service.

Williams also points out there are some areas of growth in the funding formula, specifically in areas where there is population growth, like the GTA.

He adds part of the funding formula is also based on performance so that efficiencies are rewarded and inefficiencies are not.
