Bluewater Lay Out Dog Park Policy

Bluewater Council has approved a policy that will lay out the parameters for a dog park in the municipality.

Mayor Tyler Hessel explains council felt it would be best to come up with a policy for the entire municipality and in formulating that policy, looked at neighbouring municipalities as well as others as far east as the Wellington and Waterloo areas.

Hessel says they determined the best size was about three-quarters of an acre.

"We need to make sure that dogs that are using it are using Bluewater [dog] tag," Hessel tells CKNX News. "We havent picked out any specific location in Hensal or Bayfield. We just wanted to get the policy forward first for options down the road."

Hessel adds they're looking at distances from houses of 80-120 ft and council felt the dog park should have a source of water available.

There will be another public meeting before establishing locations.
