Spring Cleaning At Huron County Museum

The Huron County Museum is doing a little spring cleaning.

Cultural Services Director Meighan Wark explains space is an issue with the Huron County Museum as it is with most museums, and staff periodically go through a process in which they evaluate the items to make sure they fit within the mandate of the museum.

Wark adds there is a collictions committee that brings a report forward on items that might not fit the mandate.

That report is brought to county council for approval before the items are offered to other museums. That list was presented and approved by county council Wednesday.

Wark adds many of the items, like the pipes from an organ that came from outside of Huron County, are in need of repair and there is a process for disposing of items if other museums are not interested.
