Ausable Bayfield Conservation Rain Barrel Sale

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority is helping two local groups sell rain barrels to celebrate World Water Day.

A similar project last year sold over 300 rain barrels.

ABCA Healthy Watershed Technician Hope Brock explains the water captured in rain barrels can be used for watering lawns and gardens or even washing cars.

It saves money because it means less treated water is being used for those purposes. Brock adds it also means less water runs off of properties and carries nutrients or other pollutants into streams and eventually the lake.

The rain barrels are being sold by the Vanastra Recreation Centre and the Thames Road-Elimville Community Park in Exeter. The actual sales take place on Saturday, May 9th and rain barrels have to be pre-ordered.

More information can be found on the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority web site.
