Meaford Driver Faces Charges

A Meaford driver has a court appearance scheduled for early next month after being pulled over while driving in Georgian Bluffs Sunday.

Just after 4:35 p.m., a Grey County OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 6 & 10 south of Rockford on suspicion of distracted driving.

Once stopped, the officer noticed a cell phone near the driver but also found that the driver had been drinking.

After failing a roadside breath test, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment for further breath tests which she failed.

Further investigation revealed that the woman's licence had been suspended due to a previous impaired driving conviction.

Police impounded her vehicle for 45 days.

The 42-year-old Municipality of Meaford woman was charged with impaired, over 80 mgs and driving while disqualified.

She is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on April 2.
