There's growing momentum to create a council on aging in Grey and Bruce.
The Owen Sound and Area Seniors Centre is behind the initiative to form a council that provides a voice for seniors and ensures they're aware of existing services.
Over the last month, there have been meetings in five locations in the two counties to determine support for the idea, the most recent was Wednesday in Durham.
Meeting chair Jan Chamberlain says the meetings have been well attended and people are behind the idea of the council. She says they'll likely create an ambassador, or buddy system, with people helping their neighbours.
"Ambassadors for driving, ambassadors for information, it's really the buddy system and knowing your neighbour and being good neighbours again," she says.
Chamberlain says there are plenty of volunteers willing to sit on the council on aging. It will have three members from each of five defined areas in Grey and Bruce.
