A 19-year-old from Central Huron is in custody in connection with a week long crime spree in Clinton.
Eric Sabourin faces charges in connection to a series of robberies at local businesses.
Beginning on February 9, the OPP says a man stole a wallet from an employee at the Ontario Street United Church, returning a few days later with an accomplice to break in and steal a safe containing valuables. Later that night, police say two people smashed their way into the Clinton Pharmacy, making off with cash and medication.
A few nights later, while the clerk was distracted at Stella's Burger Bar, the jug with donations to Habitat for Humanity was taken. The next night, the Godfathers Pizza was robbed at knife-point with two individuals making off with cash from the till.
An investigation by police led officers to an Albert St. residence in Clinton Friday morning. OPP officers and investigators executed a search warrant where evidence was recovered and Sabourin was taken into custody without incident.
He faces 15 charges including robbery with a weapon, break and enter and theft. He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 23 in Goderich.
The investigation into these crimes is ongoing and anyone with information about them is asked to contact the Huron County OPP Crime Unit.
