Owen Sound Copper Wire Thieves Caught

Owen Sound police have arrested three young people in connection with the theft of copper wire from a vacant industrial building.

Police were first notified of the theft on November 9th.  They found about 600 pounds of wire had been removed from the interior of the building.   The copper was valued at about $1800.00.

Several days later, they received a tip that people in an Owen Sound residence were stripping the wire before selling it for scrap.   Officers recovered the copper and arrested three suspects.

An 18 year old male and a 19 year old female from Owen Sound have been charged with Break-Enter-and-Theft, and Possession of Stolen Property.    They have been released to attend court on December 11th.    A 17 year old youth has been diverted into an alternative measures  program.
