The London Knights have chosen their team captain along with the hockey club’s assistant captains for the 2016-2017 season.
JJ Piccinich, a member of last year’s MasterCard Memorial Cup championship team, has been chosen to lead the Knights as captain.
Piccinich is currently playing in his overage year during the 2016-2017 season. The right winger was originally selected by the Knights in the sixth round of the 2012 OHL Priority Selection. He was also selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Owen MacDonald and Victor Mete were also chosen to serve as assistant captains. The three positions were selected by a team vote.
“We are happy to have continued on this tradition of the team selecting the leadership group this season,” said Knights’ General Manager Rob Simpson in a media release. “This process shows the trust and respect everyone has in that room for these outstanding young men.”
The Knights are back on the ice on Friday at Budweiser Gardens to take on the Kingston Frontenacs at 7:30pm.
