For the second year in a row, the generosity of London Knights fans led to a record amount of 50/50 donations.
The London Knights Alumni Foundation reported that throughout the 2023-2024 season, the 50/50 program sold a record $946,865 in gross sales. That eclipsed the 2022-2023 record by almost $100,000, with two fewer home games to buy tickets.
"The local support for our community is outstanding. It's been a great year for our 50/50 program, and we can't thank the fans enough for their commitment to our team and our community," Vice President and General Manager of the London Knights Mark Hunter said.
According to the Alumni Foundation, a single-game record was set on February 9. Fans raised $60,610 that night in memory of former London Knight, Logan Hunter, who lost his life to pancreatic cancer, with 50 per cent of the total going to the winner of the draw and the other half going to the Baker Centre for Pancreatic Cancer.
The annual 50/50 program supports a number of charitable organizations including:
• Children’s Health Foundation
• Baker Centre for Pancreatic Cancer
• Veterans Care Parkwood
• MINDS
• Shine Foundation
• ANOVA
• St Joseph’s Health Care Foundation
• Big Brothers Big Sisters
• MADD Canada
• Ronald McDonald House
• London Foodbank
• Canadian Cancer Society
• London Children’s Museum
• Humane Society London Middlesex
With two record-breaking seasons in a row, the Alumni Foundation announced that they have been able to complete a five-year $100,000 pledge to the Children's Health Foundation in only two years.
"We are sincerely grateful to the London Knights Alumni Foundation and the Hockey Club for their ongoing support of Children's," Scott Fortnum, President and CEO, of Children's Health Foundation said. "The London Knights are champions for our community on and off the ice and they help ensure our kids at Children's Hospital have access to the best possible care."
President of the London Knights Alumni Foundation Rick Doyle extended his gratitude to the team, the fans, and the entire London community.
"We are delighted to put a record-breaking dollar amount back into the community and we look forward to your continued trust and support during the 2024-25 season," he said.
