London teen charged for threatening security with fake gun

A London teen is facing numerous charges after threatening security guards at a local mall Monday.

According to London Police Service, around 8:30 p.m., two males were observed to be in possession of drugs inside a shopping center on Wellington Road.

When security guards approached them, the two proceeded to enter a restricted area inside the shopping centre.

Three security guards advised the pair that they were trespassing and attempted to escort them from the area, when one of the males allegedly resisted, produced a firearm, and uttered death threats.

The two fled and police were called. There were no reported injuries.

Officers were able to locate the suspects nearby. One was arrested, and the other was released unconditionally.

Police say a search of the suspect yielded an imitation firearm.

As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old of London has been charged with: possession of a weapon, uttering threats, assault, and use of an imitation firearm during commission of an indictable offences.

The accused was released from custody and is expected to appear in London court next month.
