Fundraising campaign for diagnostic imaging at STEGH launches

The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) Foundation launched the 'Transforming Tomorrow' fundraising campaign on Wednesday.

The goal is to raise $8 million to enhance and expand the hospital's Diagnostic Imaging Department, which includes improvements to nuclear medicine, X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound services. The funding would also be used to purchase and install the hospital's first-ever MRI machine.

"Together, we can ensure that the latest in diagnostic imaging technology is available right here in St. Thomas, providing exceptional care and improving the lives of our friends, families, and neighbours," said Mary Lou Crowley, the President and CEO of the STEGH Foundation. "It's not just about technology; it's about transforming lives and creating a healthier future for all."

According to the STEGH Foundation, diagnostic imaging is a critical component of healthcare, with the hospital performing approximately 80,000 diagnostic imaging tests or procedures each year.

At Wednesday's launch event, Crowley highlighted a fundraising promise from the FDC Foundation, which means that donations will be matched to $1 million.

"FDC Foundation's generous contribution brings us significantly closer to providing enhanced care within our community," Crowley said.
