It's time to put the water guns down.
Provincial police in Oxford are asking high school students to stop playing the so-called senior assassin game.
While it is merely a water gun fight among students, to the public who witness the game it appears as though real weapons may be involved. This has prompted several recent calls to OPP from concerned citizens who don't realize the guns are only water pistols.
In some cases there have also been videos posted to social media.
Police said the main concern is that officers investigating these weapons calls have to assume the guns are real firearms until proven otherwise, which can lead to dangerous situations.
"Police certainly want students to enjoy their final year of high school safely," said Staff Sergeant Davide Barnabi. "Our officers would like to encourage students to find a safer way to celebrate the success of their graduation."
