London spray pads open for season

Beating the hot, humid weather that is set to settle into the London region this long weekend just got easier.

The City of London is opening its 17 spray pads for the season on Friday. The free, interactive play areas that have sensors users push to activate water features will be available for use from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until roughly the Labour Day weekend.

Spray pads are unsupervised and have no standing water, the city is reminding users.

The Rowntree Park location will close in mid-June for work to update the pad. That construction is expected to be completed by September.

A list of the city’s spray pads and their activation buttons can be found by clicking here.

The opening of the spray pads comes as Environment Canada is calling for sunshine and daytime highs in the upper 20s for Saturday, Sunday, and Holiday Monday. With the humidity, the long weekend temperatures are likely to feel more like 30 C, according to the national weather agency. The above seasonal conditions are expected to continue into next week.
