Area residents are once again being asked to dream big in support of London's hospitals.
The spring edition of the Dream Lottery was launched on Thursday. Staying true to form, the semi-annual sweepstakes that raises funds for the London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), Children’s Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Health Care London has three grand prizes to choose from. They include a $1.4 million luxury home in northwest London, a beach condo in Port Stanley, and $1 million cash.
The 3,500-square-foot house at 2140 Saddlerock Ave. in London features an open floor concept, five bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, and a three car garage. It was built by Bridlewood Homes, designed by 12|26 Design Co., and furnished by Modern Living London.
The beach house located in Kokomo Beach Club 100-409 The Promenade in Port Stanley is 1,320-square-feet. It offers three bedrooms and two baths. It also comes with $250,000 cash. Both dream homes are open to the public to tour.
"The launch of the Spring Dream Home Lottery ignites a wave of excitement and anticipation within our community," said John MacFarlane, the president and CEO of the London Health Sciences Foundation, the fundraising arm of LHSC. "Each year, this remarkable event not only offers the chance to win incredible prizes but also serves as a beacon of hope for advancing healthcare in London."
MacFarlane stressed that proceeds of the lottery are used to fund medical research, acquire state-of-the-art equipment, and make a "profound" difference in the lives of patients at the hospitals.
The lottery has raised more than $59 million since 1996 for the three hospital networks.
Beyond the three grand prize options, there are also a number of early reward prizes, such as travel packages and a backyard makeover up for grabs. The 50/50 draw is also back. It offers a minimum jackpot of $250,000. During the last lottery installment, the 50/50 pot was more than $1.1 million.
Tickets for the Dream Lottery can be purchased online at www.dreamitwinit.ca, by phone at 519-488-7100, or in-person at the dream homes.
The grand prize draw is slated to be held on June 26, but could be moved up if the lottery sells out.
