Banksy art exhibition making its Canadian debut in London

An international exhibition featuring the work of famed British street artist Banksy is coming to London.

The Art of Banksy Without Limits exhibition will open April 18 at 140 Dundas Street, between Richmond and Talbot streets.

The exhibition has been custom built to fit the downtown venue that was once home to the Metropolitan Department Store. It will include more than 100 of the artist’s works including over 25 certified originals, prints, photos, lithographs, sculptures, murals, and video mapping installations created exclusively for this touring exhibit. Some works have been reproduced with Banksy's stencil technique. Additionally, a hologram installation that exhibition creators have said will allow visitors to "see the real Banksy like never before" will be debuted. There will also be a video documentary to provide patrons with insight into the anonymous artist's life and work.

One of the exhibition rooms is being dedicated to Ukraine, which has been fighting a Russian invasion for two years. The unique installation features Banksy’s interventions made in an area bombed in the ongoing war. In that room, patrons will be able to make a financial donation to Ukraine. Other rooms feature Banksy's activism related to immigrants and an “infinity room” addressing politics.

People taking in the works can channel their inner-Banksy by spray painting a t-shirt. A $2 donation to the M.V. Louise Michel organization is required.

This will be the first time the Banksy art exhibition has come to Canada. It has seen great success and opened to much fanfare in Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Asia and U.S. To-date, more than 1,750,000 people have walked through the exhibition worldwide.

Tickets for the exhibition are available online at www.theartofbanksy.com/London, or in person at the Art of Banksy Exhibition at 140 Dundas Street and at the Budweiser Gardens Box Office. Regular tickets range in price from $28.25 to $45.20 for adults and $22.60 to $36.16 for kids, students, and seniors.

The exhibition will run from noon until 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. It is estimated it will take patrons approximately 60 minutes to walk through the space.
