Suspect sought in armed west London apartment robbery

London police are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect believed among three men involved in an armed robbery and an assault at a west-end apartment.

The first incident happened around 10 p.m. on February 16.

Police said two men broke into an apartment on Wonderland Road South, near Commissioners Road and demanded money from a man inside. The resident was assaulted before the men left, police said. That individual suffered minor injuries.

On Sunday, at approximately 5:30 a.m. two men went to the same apartment on Wonderland and broke in.

"One of the suspects produced a sawed-off shotgun. The firearm was pointed at a male victim, and the suspects demanded money," police said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The suspects didn't get any cash and there were no reported injuries during the second robbery attempt.

Both incidents were reported to police on Sunday.

Investigators obtained video surveillance and determined that one of the suspects was involved in both disturbances.

Joseph David Marghella, 48, of London has not been found and is wanted by police. He has been charged by way of warrant with a number of offences including:

  • Robbery with violence or threats

  • Armed robbery

  • Use of a firearm during the commission of an indictable offence

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

  • Pointing a firearm

  • Break-and-enter and theft

  • Disguise with intent

A second suspect was identified just hours after police released his photo. A third susepect (pictured above in the black hooded jacket) has yet to be named. London police are asking anyone who recognizes the man to contact them.

Investigators don't believe the incidents were random.

Anyone with information is asked to call London police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
