Driver charged after vehicle hits house

London police say a man is facing charges after a vehicle slammed into a house in the east end of the city.

Around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to a home in the area of Highbury Avenue and Eastman Avenue. Officers were told that the driver ran from the scene after the collision.

"With the assistance of the London Police Service Canine Unit, the suspect male was located a short distance away in the backyard of another residence," police said. "The suspect was arrested, and no injuries were reported."

A 46-year-old man is charged with dangerous driving, driving while suspended, and failing to comply with a release order.
