St. Thomas police searching for an 18-year-old, who reported being lost in the city, ended up finding a carload of allegedly drunk underage teens.
The 18-year-old was a passenger in the vehicle. That individual called police around 12:45 a.m. on Friday.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle and quickly determined the driver was an unlicenced 15-year-old. The vehicle had been taken from a family member without permission, police said.
A sobriety test was administered to the driver, who reportedly failed. The teen was arrested and charged with impaired driving, driving without a licence, and being intoxicated in a public place.
Two other passengers in the vehicle, aged 14 and 15, were also charged with being drunk in a public place. They were released from police custody once sober and have future court dates.
