'It's pretty wild': Muncey woman wins $100K on scratch ticket

A Muncey woman, lamenting how she "never wins", was quickly proven wrong while playing an instant lottery game.

Shawnessy Elijah recently won the top prize of $100,000 on an Instant Crossword Tripler ticket.

The young woman, who only plays the lottery a few times a year, had purchased a few scratch tickets to play with her grandmother.

"When I was playing the tickets, I said to my grandma, 'I'm never going to buy these tickets again because I never win.' Then I found out I won the top prize - I was shocked," Elijah said while picking up her winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. "My dad came running over. I was frozen watching my family celebrate around me. It's pretty wild."

Elijah said her and her family spent the whole rest of the day talking about the big win.

She plans to put some of the money into a savings account, treat her family as well as purchase a new car and phone.

"Money isn't that important to me but I'm excited for this chance to get ahead," said Elijah.

The winning ticket was purchased at Delaware Variety and Take Out on Longwoods Road in Delaware.
